sticker
(an ode to dumaguete)

how I miss your charms!
the freedom of the alleys
that overflowed of stories
of ripening adolescence
playing with their recklessness,
their random fickleness.
I had my fond days
of tossing my choices
into the waves
that cradled you.
bittersweet it was!
my desires you sparkled
with the smacks of erudition
quick sex and dangerous exploits
I could only indulge
in the fountain of youth.
the songs of emancipation
of liberty
from the chains of home
echoed in your darkest streets
while the smell of red horse
of stale puke and vomit
stung the air like its twin.
I sailed away.
to a place where the
talinis mountains that protect you
are but a silhouette beside
a ball of fire
that burns all reasons
of my departure.staring from afar,
now you’re just at sicker
on a paper
clinging on to memory.

****bored and restless, i went to the boulevard and wrote this..people stared at me, maybe thinking i am a weirdo drawing some odd stuff on my notebook.. i wrote this when i saw the silhouette of negros island visibly blurring gracefully with the sky at dusk...it brought a lot of memories....tsk tsk
